In the spirit of staying connected, we held a virtual event powered by Teradata to celebrate what the Data for Good community has done to make the world a better, safer, healthier, and fairer place. With the theme of “Empowering Communities, Serving Humanity”, we “charged” things up with lightning talks by volunteers sharing work that they’ve done over the past year.

Riders wanted to explore ways to ease their couriers’ burdens while speeding up the process of digitizing the data from handwritten forms – ideally in near-real-time! To address this challenge, DataKindⓇ developed “ROCR”: a prototype optical character recognition assisted form-capture tool that extracts and predicts key handwritten fields in the standard sample-transport forms used by Riders’ operations in Nigeria – and records them in a digital logbook.
