What were you up to before DataKind?

Most recently, I was a staff learning scientist with HMH, an international learning technologies and publishing company. Before that, I was a program director for the National Science Foundation’s Division of Research on Learning and a professor with the University of Iowa and the National Institute of Education Singapore. My main area of work is in applied assessment and evaluation, particularly in STEM education.

Why are you excited to join DataKind?

DataKind’s data science and AI for good mission really motivates me. I’m excited about how we work collaboratively with partners to increase access to knowledge and help achieve social impact. The team has also been amazing—so much capability and a commitment to ethical uses of AI and machine learning in data analytics.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy traveling. I love to learn about other people, places, and foods. When I’m at home, I usually spend time in my neighborhood with family and friends.

Join the DataKind movement.
