We’re incredibly excited to announce that Cherie Austin has joined us as DataKind’s Senior Manager, Human Resources!
As a member of the Operations Team, Cherie will ensure the wellbeing and productivity of our growing DataKind team, leading the hiring and onboarding process and managing our day-to-day people operations. One of the many reasons we’re thrilled to have her onboard is that she has exactly the blended background that DataKinders exemplify—she’s passionate about building best in class processes, systems, and talent functions with deep experience working in the nonprofit education sector. What were you up to before DataKind?
Prior to joining DataKind, I was Associate Director of Human Resources at Uncommon Schools. During my time there, I managed the employee life cycle and human resources activities across our schools in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts. I also worked on a number of HR system implementations, including an HRIS, 403 (b) platform and Zendesk team HR knowledge base. I’m also a Master’s Degree candidate at Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
Why are you excited to join DataKind?
I’m so excited about the opportunity to work with an organization that’s using data in service of humanity and solving some of the world’s biggest problems. I’m also excited about the opportunity to build a best in class talent function to support all staff members of DataKind to thrive and be successful in their roles.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I love walking along the Schuylkill River, one of the most beautiful walking paths in Philadelphia. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and watching way too much Netflix.
