Let’s give a warm welcome to the newest member of the team. Join us in celebrating Emma Turner as DataKind’s Cloud DevOps Engineer!
Emma brings a unique perspective on harnessing data and technology for social good. With over seven years of experience in the IT and data sectors, Emma excels in system optimization and process improvement, driving efficiency and innovation. Prior to moving into her role as a Cloud DevOps Engineer, Emma had been working at DataKind as a systems administrator consultant for a little over a year.
In her new role, Emma will leverage her expertise in platform and infrastructure management, systems administration, and software delivery. This role comes at a critical time as DataKind is working to scale numerous products, including the Student Success Tool. As DataKind continues its growth, having support for the organization’s key systems and infrastructure has never been more important.
We’re excited to have her with us full-time in this broader role! Learn more about Emma below.
What were you up to before DataKind?
Prior to joining DataKind, I worked as an IT and data project manager. I specialized in managing large-scale, highly complex data projects across a variety of industries, including life sciences, finance, manufacturing, and more. After a few years of managing technical projects, I realized that I wanted to be in a technical role myself, which is what ultimately led me to joining DataKind.
Why are you excited to join DataKind?
I believe wholeheartedly that data and technology are some of the most effective tools we have when it comes to making a positive impact across the globe, and I’m so excited to be part of an organization with that mission. I’m inspired by DataKind’s work, values, and impact, and thrilled to have joined such an incredible team!
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I love to travel and explore new places. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family, learning new skills, and taking care of my houseplants. I love to cook, and have recently started learning how to make my own sourdough bread! I have also been learning how to make my own body care products lately, which has been a lot of fun.
