Yash brings his expertise in technology leadership, product management, and product strategy to DataKind. Before joining DataKind, he worked for several years as a software engineer, building and scaling solutions in the technology industry. In his role at DataKind, he’ll manage product strategy, UX research, cross-functional execution, and partner engagement for multiple products.
Yash is passionate about technology and data and the ability to maximize the impact of social organizations and institutions when they’re created for and by the people they’re serving, and we’re thrilled to have him with us. Learn more about Yash below.
What were you up to before DataKind?
Most recently, I was a Technical Product Manager at VolunteerMatch, a technology nonprofit platform that connects volunteers and nonprofits. Before I was a product professional, I worked for several years as a full stack software engineer and data engineer in the banking and nonprofit sectors, building and iterating on several different products and platforms.
Why are you excited to join DataKind?
DataKind sits at the perfect intersection of data and social impact. As someone who is dedicated to using his technical skills to help others, I’m excited to use my years of experience and motivation to be able to empower other social impact organizations with data, machine learning, and AI capabilities. I’m also excited to work with and learn from a group of like-minded, empathetic, and intelligent folks who have had a large amount of success in this field.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love challenging outdoor and water activities! I enjoy scuba diving, surfing, hiking, dancing, and playing sports when I can. In my spare time, I also like to volunteer as an advisor and associate board member with other social impact organizations, and as a founder of a meetup group for folks looking to have a positive social impact through the power of technology.
