Raina comes to DataKind with more than a decade of experience building philanthropic partnerships, primarily in international and sustainable development. With a passion for collaboration, she’ll lead the Development team in building and expanding the organization’s philanthropic strategies and activities to advance the mission of DataKind and its initiatives.

What were you up to before DataKind?
Most recently, I led a range of philanthropic initiatives and institutional partnerships at The Asia Foundation, an international development NGO that works to advance good governance, inclusive economic growth, women’s empowerment and gender equality, climate action, and international cooperation. In my role, I focused on aligning corporate social impact strategies with programs in STEM education and equity, workforce development, and inclusive economic resilience and growth to increase access to opportunity for underserved and underrepresented communities across the Asia-Pacific. I also advanced efforts to raise the profile around the organization’s data for development portfolio.
Why are you excited to join DataKind?
From afar, I’ve admired DataKind, which has been a rich resource in my journey to learn more about how data science can be applied in the social impact arena. Now as a DataKinder, I’m excited to draw from my ten-plus years of experience building philanthropic partnerships in support of DataKind’s mission. Along with the incredible and inspiring DataKind team and our wider community, I look forward to collaborating with others – visionary philanthropic leaders, local partners and communities, and technology for good champions – and propelling DataKind’s next stage of growth as a global leader in Data Science and AI for Good innovations.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Outside of the office, I can be found exploring art museums, practicing yoga, and navigating the great outdoors with my partner and Spotje, a labrottie rescue who loves road trips.
